Singing Chinese Christmas Songs and caroling was one of my favorite things growing up.
Growing up I loved watching my parents perform as I accompanied the church choir when I was little. Later, I enjoyed singing English Christmas songs at the university.
After college, I taught in a local grade school directing the Chinese & English Choir. Teaching them Christmas songs in Chinese is still one of my fondest memories.
Christmas songs and music always brings the Christmas spirit.
It brings us peace, joy, excitement, and hope.
Singing a fantastic way to learn languages.
I have prepared some Christmas songs and compiled them into a FREE mini-book.
Perfect for kids carry with them everywhere.

The True Meaning of Christmas
Before we jump into the fun, let us remember the true meaning of Christmas.
No matter what you believe, the true meaning of Christmas centers around Jesus Christ. It is about “loving thy neighbor” and lifting people’s spirits.
Here is a wonderful video to watch as a family:
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Christmas reminds me of God’s love and hope. Heavenly Father loves each one of us, has a plan for us to return to Him as a family through obeying His commandments.
That’s the reason for the gifts, lights, stars, angels.
Steps for Teaching Kids Chinese through Christmas Songs
- Explain the background & story of each Christmas song. Use props/pictures while teaching vocabulary in the lyrics
- Listen to each Christmas songs once or twice while they dance
- Practice saying the lyrics together out loud
- Sing and repeat the songs over and over together
- Add movement, games, or other activities
- Sing it all day long ( while walking the dog, in the car, before bed, bath, etc. )
- Put the lyrics up on the wall
- Learn more songs and compile a Chinese music booklet as a family

This is the second 5-Day Challenge that we have done with Fortune Cookie Mom. Both have been very beneficial to our family. I am a homeschool mom of three little kids. We are not Chinese and do not speak any Chinese. With the help of Fortune Cookie Mom, we are slowly learning! The challenges have given me fun activities to do at home with the kids. Each one has reignited my kid's interest in learning. It has been a fun experience for everybody!
